DOCSIS 4.0 is pushing the upstream into the realm of what was considered the downstream spectrum. By providing four new splits, the spectrum range can be from 5 MHz all the way to 684 MHz — a challenge when designing amplifiers for upstream applications. Modelithics and Qorvo have been collaborating for over ten years to provide designers with free access to state-of-the-art high accuracy models for a growing multitude of high power GaN transistors. The available and developing GaN model library supports simulation-based design flows for GaN power amplifiers (PAs) with output power requirements from 5W to over 1500W. This presentation will summarize the library access, content, and advanced model features as well as present an example using one of the latest GaN model entries.
